The Spirit of Winter – Photography by Mikko Lagerstedt

With the advent of Instagram our standards for “good” photography have been degraded by the picture flood of food, hipster glasses and cheesy old-photo-effects. It’s not hard to see why I’m always excited when I find a photographer that can truly capture the real essence of things.

Meet fine art photographer Mikko Lagerstedt from Finland. Mikko’s work has been published in Nikon Magazine, PetaPixel and even Digital Camera World Magazine. His work entitled “The Spirit of Winter” is what caught my attention. Mikko manages to capture the quiet, peaceful solitude that a fresh winter storm grants us. Winter is a time when we as humans stay indoors and leave nature untouched. The Spirit of winter is a shining example of the beauty in silence, one devoid of our human presence.
