Portuguese animator Henrique Barone is no stranger to Creative Fluff. We’ve always been great fans of his aesthetic and storytelling capabilities, especially the ones seen in his previous film ‘Tough West‘. Henrique does not disappoint with his new film ‘The Man Who Saw a Boat’. A brief story about the a man living under water who questions his life when a boat floats over his head. As I watched the animation, I couldn’t help but wonder if it was the man questioning the life above the ocean’s waves, or if the story was actually about a man dreaming of exploring the ocean below. The story does not appear to be linear and it seems to end exactly where it started – with the man on the boat.
Henrique continues to show us his artistic talent by blending 2D and 3D animation techniques together seamlessly to create a believable, underwater world. The composition feels light, but it doesn’t take away from the deep philsophical undertones of the short movie. Take a look at some of the awesome making of images below.
