Here’s a personal note about myself. I love Triangles. They’re my favorite shape. I feel like the majority of people like Squares because they’re stable, Circles because they’re mobile & crazy shapes like Dodecahedrons because they don’t want to be mainstream. I however, choose the triangle. A triangle doesn’t need the help of another shape. It’s a reliable shape that can stand on it’s own; when placed on a flat surface it will always point in one-direction. Enough about me, let’s talk about Alexey Romanowski.
Romanowski is an animator and motion graphic artist based in Kiev, Ukraine. According to him, the work was nothing more than an exploration of different styles of animation. As you can see from the screenshots not only does this work pay tribute to the most basic shapes we see in our lives, but gives them life by adding shapes within shapes on top of other shapes.
I took a look at Romanowski’s other work and found that he uses short animations in order to bring beauty out of his work within a few simple frames. He uses small moments in time to attract our attention and despite the repetition, the memories created by each play through are almost always different.
Take a look at his work below or see more of his work on his Tumblr.
